Heather is a California and Nationally (NCCAOM) licensed acupuncturist and clinical herbalist. She practices in Venice, CA at Flow House Therapy. Her treatment goals are rooted in the wisdom of traditional Chinese medicine that she renders accessible and relevant for patients. Her treatment style combines acupuncture, herbal, and diagnostic skills, along with intuitive and energetic assessments, which results in a completely personalized treatment. Complimentary modalities such as cupping, gua sha, or moxibusion can be added to the treatment, based on individual patient needs.
Heather believes that health and healing are multi-dimensional and loves the depth of support, be it physical, emotional or spiritual, that traditional Chinese medicine can offer patients. Her clinical areas of focus range from mental health issues such as stress, anxiety, depression, grief and trauma, to pain management, digestion concerns and women’s health. She meets her patients where they are, offering practical and actionable changes to create lasting results.
She believes that creating balance in the body helps to create balance in life. It’s the reason she started to explore acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine 12 years ago and the reason why she still continues to share its benefits with patients time and time again.
Heather earned her Masters in Traditional Oriental Medicine from Emperor’s College in Santa Monica, CA. She received her BA in Psychology from the University of Kansas. She had the privilege of assisting Dr. Bong Dal Kim, the founder of Emperor’s college in his private practice as an additional apprenticeship. She was an acupuncturist at Providence Hospital Disney Cancer Center in Burbank, CA focusing on the Master Tung modality to address pain. She is also certified in Clean Needle Technique by CCAOM and has completed the Advanced Cosmetic Acupuncture training certification through Shellie Goldstein Acupuncture.
Virtual Herbal, Acupressure, Lifestyle & Nutrition Appointment
We will first discuss the patient’s medical history, main symptoms they would like to address, and overall health goals. Based on this information, I will offer a combination of herbal, acupressure, lifestyle and nutritional recommendations. All will be tailored to their individual needs. After the consultation, the patient will receive notes detailing the recommendations we discussed. Some topics might be referenced immediately (i.e. acupressure location and palpation demonstration), but the notes will clarify and be a reference for the patient.
*Please note that online consultations are not usually appropriate for acute or urgent conditions.
Initial Acupuncture Session
The first appointment begins with a thorough medical history and discussion of symptoms along with overall health goals. We will discuss a treatment plan utilizing acupuncture, herbs, nutrition and lifestyle recommendations. The actual treatment will involve a brief energetic Reiki body scan and then an acupuncture treatment. It’s possible other modalities such as cupping, gua sha or moxibustion will be added as well.
The intake, history and recommendations in the initial acupuncture appointment also apply to the facial acupuncture appointment. The facial appointment includes a brief energetic Reiki "body scan", both facial and body acupuncture, along with a facial sheet mask. Please note that these appointments are not a traditional facial, as in no extractions, steaming or deep cleansing etc...are completed. It is advised that you arrive at the appointment with clean, bare skin.
