12+ Audio Course: More Lore Less Bore — How to Grow Your Audience and Sell Your Products
Shocking and true!
Over the past few months, the Holisticism subscriber list grew by 900 people. Like, in literally two months. Not because I cracked some mysterious algorithm code or finally achieved inbox zero (lol forever), but because we started telling the real story of what we believe and why it matters.
It's Not About Your Story, It's About Your Universe
When I say lore, I don’t mean your origin story or your "why." It's the entire meaning-making system of your work. Think of your business or project as its own little planet, complete with its own gravitational field and atmospheric conditions. Some things matter deeply in your world that might be completely irrelevant in another. That's not just okay — it's exactly how it should be.
Your lore is the collection of universal laws that govern your little corner of the universe. For example, in the Holisticism universe:
Intuition is information (just like analytics)
Systems can be magical (and magic needs systems)
The answers are already inside you (but sometimes you need help excavating them)
These aren't just cute sayings for Pinterest — they're fundamental principles that guide everything we do, from how we structure our programs to how we write our emails.
The Problem with Pure Aesthetics
We're still stuck in this weird Pinterest limbo space where "building a brand" means endlessly mood boarding without ever really saying anything.
Here's the thing about pure aesthetics: they're like ordering a gorgeous cake made entirely of fondant. Sure, it looks amazing on Instagram, but try to actually consume it and you'll find yourself choking on sugar paste and disappointment.
Your audience is hungry for substance. They want the whole gee dee bakery — the story behind the recipes, your breadmaking philosophy, the inside scoop on the secret societies of pastry chefs who meet at midnight to discuss the metaphysics of sourdough starters. (Wait, is that just me?)
Your Lore Matters Now More Than Ever
The digital landscape has gone feral with everyone and their astrology app trying to build a "brand universe." But most of these universes lack depth because they’re purely aesthetic — they don’t really feel like a living, breathing thing.
When you share your actual lore — your real belief system, your meaning-making framework, your "this is how we see the world and why it matters" manifesto — you're creating something much more powerful than just another aesthetic feed. You're building a reality tunnel that people can actually step into and explore.
And here's the real gag: people are DESPERATE for this kind of depth. They don't want another pastel-colored brand guide — they want footnotes, theory, and enough deep lore to fill a graduate thesis.
How to Actually Share Your Lore
Write out your universal laws (not in that toxic positivity way, but in that "here's how we actually think the world works" way)
Explain your worldview through stories and examples
Share how your beliefs shape your work
Let people see the weird connections you make
Trust that your people will get it
The goal isn't to convert everyone to your way of seeing things — it's to create a space where the people who already think like you can find you and go "OH MY GOD FINALLY SOMEONE GETS IT."
The Real Magic
When you share your actual lore instead of just your aesthetic mood board, something magical happens: you attract people who really get you. Not just people who like your fonts or your color palette, but people who understand your universe and want to live in it.
And isn't that kind of the whole point?
