Inside Voice: The BTS of How we Planned a Holisticism Team Retreat to Italy

Welcome to a sneak peek release of Inside Voice. Inside Voice is content plus offering from Holisticism, where we’ll be diving into conversations that are a bit more personal, a bit more inside-baseball, and a bit more behind the scenes than usual with what’s happening in our lives outside of work, as well as in the business.

Our next episode will drop next month and we’ll share more details about subscribing to the feed soon. Stay tuned!

In today’s edition of Inside Voice, Michelle is taking us behind the scenes to explain how Holisticism planned and financed a team trip to Italy. From the initial spark of the idea, the financing details and logistics, and the philosophical POV that sparked it all, we hope that sharing this experience expands your view of what’s possible when running an intuitive business on your own terms.

It is way more expensive for me to burn out or for anyone for my team to burn out and quit, or need to take 6-month off than to take two weeks to just chill.
I wanted people to bring a friend or a partner along for the ride because I want to get to know the friends and partners of the people that I work with.
I’ll share our entire itinerary with you, but really how you can, I think more than anything, get inspired by something that you see that’s non-traditional and unconventional in business — something that lights you up both from a business perspective and from a person personhood perspective and then make it happen.
For our small team, we have a set of travelers. We all are nonlinear thinkers. We all have ADHD. And we’d like being out in the world. And we really get a lot of inspiration from being around each other, being with new people, and being in new places.
I just didn’t want people to feel like they could never take time to breathe.
There are some things that are going to be better when we can be together.
If I don’t take an off-site, then I know that there’s a higher likelihood that we will make less money because you’ll be the less inspired. And so we will come up with viewer ideas and opportunities and creative ways to market ourselves. So for me, it’s a no-brainer to pay for an off-site.
This trip ended up being really affordable.
